She was President Donald Trump’s wife from 2017 to 2021. She is the second foreign-born first lady after Louisa Adams (wife of John Quincy Adams), the first naturalized citizen to hold the position, the second Roman Catholic first lady after Jacqueline Kennedy (wife of John F. Career
After appearing in a school-sponsored fashion show at the age of sixteen, Melania was spotted by Slovenian fashion photographer Stane Jerko. She had not aspired to be a model at the time, but rather a fashion designer. The Italian studio Cinecittà offered Melania a movie role after she won a modeling competition, but she turned down the opportunity after being sexually approached by a producer.
In the years that followed, Melania traveled throughout Europe for modeling assignments, one of which saw her portraying the first female US president in 1993. She moved to Paris with her roommate Victoria Silvstedt when she was about 23 or 24 years old.
